Nightmare Festival Artist Spotlight: Keys N Krates

While at times being pegged down as simply a trap music trio, Keys N Krates soar beyond expectations of traditional trap music; Their music maintains definitive qualities that have come to characterize trap while also demonstrating a masterful fusion of old school kicks, hip-hop, grime, and electronica music. Notably, KNK’s sound reflects a duality in their music by simultaneously providing bumpin’ party tracks and uplifting, soulful melodies.

The Toronto based trio joined forces in 2008, combining the skills of Adam Tune on the drums, David Matisse on synth and keyboard, and turntablist JR Flo. Since teaming up the band as carved out an impressive track record including tour stops in Europe, North America, and major events such as TomorrowWorld, Lollapalooza, Electric Zoo, Ultra Music Festival, Osheaga and Sonar Festival among many others. Additionally, KNK’s SOLOW EP, released in 2013 on Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak, received tremendous praise and success for exceptional tracks such as “Treat Me Right” and “Dum Dee Dum” which premiered on Annie Mac’s show on BBC Radio1. On top of all that, KNK’s 2014 release of their Every Nite EP received equal success with the premier of “Are We Faded” also on Annie Mac’s BBC Radio 1 show.

Impressive track record aside, KNK is worthy of being a headliner at practically any show or festival. KNK performs entirely live to not simply provide music, but to showcase their art and soul. Witnessing KNK live allows for a uniquely intimate setting even at larger scale parties, amplified by their desire to create a connection with the audience. Likewise, KNK gives back all the love and appreciation that EDM enthusiasts seek to bring to the scene itself. Ultimately, their music satisfies a craving for a true tangible energy of artistic expression that is meant to be heard as well as felt.

To catch Keys N Krates jam out live, be sure to catch them at Nightmare Festival this Halloween at Camp Ramblewood, MD. For more shows by KNK, their tour dates are made available on their website
