Fall Festival Camping Survival Guide

Fall festival season is here and it’s a known fact that they can get cold sometimes. Even Burning Man, which takes place over Labor Day weekend, sees temperatures reach as low at 40 degrees at night. The good news is that if you prepare correctly you will have no disruptions hindering your amazing time regardless of which festival you choose to attend this fall.

USE A SLEEPING BAG
Sleeping bags are made to protect heat from escaping.

INSULATE BETWEEN YOUR SLEEPING BAG & THE GROUND
The ground will be cold and will suck away your body’s warmth. Put something else down that you can lay your sleeping bag on.

SLEEP WITH A HAT & SCARF
Your head & neck lose heat fast in colder conditions. Protecting them will keep you considerably warmer.

USE THE RIGHT TENT
Not all tents are made to protect through various seasons. Make sure your tent will provide ample protection from wind, rain, and low temperatures.

USE A TENT HEATER
You can buy a kerosene or propane tent heater for under $60 at outdoor & camping stores as well as some home stores or department stores. Click HERE to see which one we recommend.

DRESS WARM
Dress warm during the entire festivals. Girls, we realize you can’t wait to run around in your panties but think about survival first. The less you worry about keeping yourself warm the more you’ll find yourself freezing by the end of the night. Wear gloves, thermals, hats and scarfs.

DON’T FORGET THE BASICS
Drink water for obvious reasons. Being hydrated improves circulation. But do NOT forget about electrolytes. The #1 cause of medical emergencies at festivals are either from lack of electrolytes or lack of hydration. Take a moment in the middle of partying to chug a Gatorade or an Emergen-C then wash it down with even more water. If it sounds so simple then why not make this a part of your regular routine?
